What is an industrial ball valve?

A ball valve is a valve used for both liquids and gases and works by means of a ball with round bore. The position of the ball determines whether or not the medium flows through. A ball valve has a full passage. Using manual or pneumatic actuation, the ball turns a quarter turn, causing the valve to open or close. The valve is open when the bore is in the same direction as the pipe. With manual operation, you can simply tell by the position of the lever whether the ball valve is open or closed.
